And Yet, I Smile

I have been neglected and starved,

And yet, I smile.

Beaten and abused,

And yet, I smile.

Insulted and shunned,

And yet, I smile.

Broken and down-trodden,

And yet, I smile.

Cheated on and bullied,

And yet, I smile.

Lied to and slandered,

And yet, I smile.

I smile because I know love, true, pure, unconditional love.

Those who have hurt me before, can no longer.

They have no power over me.

I am God’s child, James’ wife, Amanda, Tiffany, Sean, and Matthew’s mother, Dylan, Jocelyn, Trenton, and Brody’s grandmother.

So I smile.
