Finding Peace can be a challenge for some people. Negative Nancys are all around us, and they can sure bring you down, if you let them!
I refuse to let them!
Think positive, and you’ll live a positive life.
I’m not saying nothing bad will ever happen to you – bad things happen to good people all the time. It’s how you handle those trials that will determine the final outcome.
I didn’t always handle my trials with a positive attitude, but looking back on it all, I realized that I wasted a lot of time feeling sorry for myself, when what I should have done was pull up my boot straps, and get to work!
That’s what I love about Texas, we know how to roll up our sleeves, and get down to business!
Look at the floods in Houston – so many people affected, and what did our fellow Texans do? They got every boat they could find, from El Paso to Harlingen, and start rescuing every person, dog, cat, horse, and chicken that they could get to! They didn’t wait around for the first responders to do the work, they knew that it was too much for them to handle alone.
Surround yourself with people that encourage you to push through the tough times, and let go of the Negative Nancys, or at least keep them at arm’s length, and don’t let them get to you.
Find something that gives you purpose. Set goals, whether it’s getting that college degree that you always meant to finish, or a big trip somewhere you’ve always dreamed about. This can be your focus, at times when you need a reminder of why you keep pushing forward.
I recommend reading some of the wonderful inspirational books that are out, like this one, Peace Like a River by Leif Enger.
If you make the choice to be happy, then you’ll find your Peace.
Lay your worries at God’s feet, and Peace will come.
